Departure from Tallinn to Riga, via Pärnu, a popular Estonian sea resort and a summer capital of Estonia. A next stop in Sigulda, the Latvian Switzerland. Experience a genuine atmosphere of the Middle Ages listening to romantic legends and admiring the ruins of the 13th c. Knights’ or Turaida Castle and mysterious sandstone grottoes on the Gauja riverbank. Arriving to Jurmala late in the evening. Accommodation and overnight in Jurmala.
Morning short city tour in Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian sea resort, famous for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. A further drive to Riga. Riga city tour encompasses the most significant sights of the Old Town: the biggest church complex in the Baltics – theDome Cathedral and St.Peter’s Church with its 123,5m tower, Jacob’s Church, the big and the small Guild, the „Three Brothers“, the House of the Blackheads. A walk through Albert street, a famous area of Art Nouveau architecture where almost every house was designed by architect Mikhail Eisenstein. A free afternoon to explore the city. Return to Jurmala for overnight.
Morning departure to the Curonian Spit via Klaipeda with en route stop to see the famous pilgrimage site – the Hill of Crosses. Arriving to Klaipeda. Short city tour of the Old Town of Klaipeda including the statue of „Annie of Tharau“ in the Theatre Square, the heart of the city. Ferry to Curonian Spit, a unique narrow sandy stretch between the waters of the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea, one of Lithuanian UNESCO World Heritage sites. Overnight in Nida.
After breakfast follows an impressive tour at the Curonian Spit, one of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in Europe. You’ll enjoy the beauty of largest town on the spit, Nida and great panorama from the highest sand dune Parnidis, rising 52 m above sea level. Visit the Amber Gallery and hear the story about amber, Lithuanian gold stone, the old cemetery and Thomas Mann Museum. Stop in Juodkrante which boasts of its Hill of Witches with with wooden mythological figures from Lithuanian legends. Overnight in Nida.
Morning departure for Kaliningrad via Russian part of Curonian Spit. The journey continues through the three beautiful small towns – Morskoe, Rybachy and Lesnoy. Here you will also visit the mysterious “Dancing Forest”. This area has a bizarre natural phenomenon where the pine trees are twisted into loops, spirals and strange shapes. Worth visiting are of course the great and beautiful sand dunes and one of the oldest Ornithological Stations in the world in Rybachy. A walk on the dunes at Efa, the second highest sand dune in Europe where you can hear the ‘singing sands’, is not to be missed. Late afternoon arrival to Kaliningrad. Accommodation and overnight in Kaliningrad.
Morning city tour in Kaliningrad, the ancient of East Prussia, including visit to the Cathedral, symbol of Kaliningrad and Königsberg and a chance to see the tomb of Immanuel Kant, the city’s most famous former resident. Then we take you to the remains of the city walls and stop to look at some of the surviving gates. There is a chance to visit the Amber Museum, see the Luisen Church (now a Puppet theatre), the Organ Hall situated in a former church as well as statues of Kant and Schiller, the former Stock Exchange building on the banks of the Pregel River and the Drama Theatre. Afternoon drive to Vilnius. Arrival to Vilnius – capital of Lithuania. Accommodation and overnight in Vilnius.
A morning Vilnius City Tour including the most interesting architectural and historic monuments of the 16 th.-19 th. centuries, such as majestic Classical Vilnius Cathedral with the history dating back to the 14 th. century, a graceful 16 th.c. St. Anne’s Church – a gem of the Lithuanian Gothic, the Vilnius University founded in 1579, the Dawn Gate with a holy icon of Virgin Mary etc.
Afternoon visit to Ss. Peter and Paul’s Church, a gem of the 17 th. century Lithuanian Baroque and continue tour to Trakai, 28 km from Vilnius, the ancient Lithuanian capital, famous for its 15th c. Gothic Castle amidst the lake, now housing a History Museum. After a visit you will have a possibility to taste traditional Karaites’ dish- kibinai. Return to Vilnius for an overnight.
Transfer to the airport.
