TOUR DESCRIPTION:

14 days to discover the East Coast of Baltic Sea - three Baltic countries, famous for a picteresque landscapes and local culture, old ethnographic villages, Kaliningrad - an exclave of Russia, geographically separated from the rest of the country, and Belarus - undiscovered part of Europe where a unique slavic culture prospers.

DAILY ITINERARY 

Day 1
Arrival to Minsk, capital of Belarus. Accommodation and overnight.

Day 2: MINSK

Morning Minsk city tour including Independence Square with the House of Government, the "Red" Roman Catholic Church, Victory Square with its 38 metres grey obelisk and eternal flame to the heroes of World War II, Yanka Kupala Park, Trinity Suburb with restored buildings of the 19thc., Holy Trinity Cathedral and St.Catherine's Church - architectural monuments of the 17th c.
Overnight in Minsk.


Day 3: MINSK - VILNIUS
Morning transfer Minsk - Vilnius. Accommodation on arrival to Vilnius. Free time.

Day 4: VILNIUS - TRAKAI - VILNIUS

Morning Vilnius Old Town tour including the Cathedral, the main Catholic shrine erected on the site where pagan Gods were worshipped, the elegant St. Anne's Church, a gem of the Lithuanian Gothics, the University founded in 1579, the Dawn Gate with a holy icon of Virgin Mary, Gediminas Castle, the symbol of Vilnius, on the hill. Afternoon departure to Trakai, 28km from Vilnius, the ancient capital of Lithuania, famous for its 15th century Gothic Castle on the island in Galve Lake. Castle visit.
Return to Vilnius for overnight.


Day 5: VILNIUS - KAUNAS
Morning departure for Kaunas, Lithuanian‘s second largest city. After accommodation city sightseeing tour includes: 15-18th c. Cathedral, the Jesuits‘ Church, the Town Hall Square, Holy Trinity Church and nearby Catholic Seminary, the early 15th c. Vytautas Church. A visit to Pazaislis Monastery erected in the middle of the 17th c. by Camalduli monks to see the famous holy image of Virgin Mary.
Overnight in Kaunas.

Day 6: KAUNAS - SOVETSK - SVETLOGORSK
Morning tranfer along a picturesque Nemunas riverside road to Kaliningrad Region via Sovietsk (Tilsit). Overnight in the vicinity of Kaliningad, in Svetlogorsk, a beautiful resort on Zamland peninsula on the Baltic coast. Enjoy the town's pine woods and beaches, visit a former Catholic Church where organ summer concerts are held daily, the sculpture park, the 19th century Water Tower and Art Noveau bathhouse.

Day 7: SVETLOGORSK - KALININGRAD - YANTARNY - SVETLOGORSK

Departure for sightseeing in Kaliningrad to visit the historic 13th c. Cathedral, the tomb of a famous German philosopher Immanuel Kant beside its walls, the University, Dona Bastion, Lasch Bunker and other sights of this city with its German cultural heritage of the past 700 years under the name of Koenigsberg. Afternoon tour to Yantarny settlement and its amber mines.

urn to Svetlogorsk for overnight.


Day 8: SVETLOGORSK - THR CURONIAN SPIT - KLAIPEDA
Morning transfer to Klaipeda via the Curonian Spit,a narrow strip of land between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. The first stop in Nida, the resort of serene beauty, included into the UNESCO World Heritage List, noted for its dunes of 50-60 m high, a real Lithuanian Sakhara. The second stop in Juodkrante to visit the Hill of Witches, impressive wooden sculptures in a dense pine wood. After a ferry crossing of the Curonian Lagoon you reach Klaipeda, the Lithuanian port city.
Overnight in Klaipeda.

Day 9: KLAIPEDA - THE HILL OF CROSSES - RUNDALE - RIGA

After a short morning tour of Klaipeda Old Town, a transfer to Riga with two stops: first at the Hill of Crosses, a holy site of Catholic piligrimage, the second after crossing the Lithuanian-Latvian border, in Rundale, to visit its 18th c. Baroque Palace, created by the famous Italian architect Rastrelli and known as Versailles of Latvia.

Day 10: RIGA

Morning walking tour of Old Riga including the most famous architectural monuments: 13th century St. Peter's Church, the Dome Cathedral and its famous 19th century organ - one of the biggest organs in Europe, medieval dwelling houses "Three Brothers", 13th c. St. Jacob's Church, 14th century Riga Castle.
Afternoon free. Overnight

Day 11: RIGA - PARNU - MUHU - SAAREMAA - KURESSAARE

Departure for Parnu, the Estonian seaside resort. The walking tour includes the Town Hall, Catherine Church, the Orthodox church built in the XVII century and named after the Russian empress Catherine II, the Tallinn Gate. A further drive to Virtsu harbour, to visit Muhu and Saaremaa islands. Ferry to Muhu (Mohn) island. Visit of Eemu windmill, the 13th century Pöide church, Muhu church and etnographic Koguva village (founded in 1532), the living village etnographic museum. Continuation to Saaremaa. Visit of Karja (13‘th century) and Anglawindmills.
Drive to Kuressaare. On the way a visit of Kaali lake - the Kaali meteorite craters, the biggest with the diameter of 110 m.

Day 12: KURESSAARE - TALLINN

Morning tour of Kuressaare: the episcopal castle (14th c.), the only fully preserved medieval castle in Estonia, the 17th century Baroque Town Hall, Resort club (1899), the Weigh house and the Market Hall. Departure from Kuressaare to Kuivastu harbour, back to mainland.
A further drive to Tallinn, capital of Estonia for overnight.


Day 13: TALLINN
Morning Tallinn walking tour includes The Upper Town - Toompea Hill, the 13th c. Gothic style Dome Cathedral, perfect city panorama. In the Lower Town the tour includes the Gothic Town Hall (early 15th c.), the pharmacy, opened in 1422 and still functioning, the Great Guild and Blackheads Fraternity Houses, both from the 15th c. Tallin is often referred as "medieval pearl of Europe".
Overnight in Tallinn.

Day 14

Departure home.
